Nicholas Kirkwood x Keith Haring

On my last trip to Hong Kong I was so super excited to see these amazing one of a kind shoes on display. They were at Lane Crawford in Kowloon and I can't believe how lucky I was with my timing.

At first I thought maybe they were for sale and I frantically ran down a sales person and asked to try on anything they had left in my size. No luck though... these were all made as one-offs and are now part of a traveling exhibit. They started off in Kirkwoods flagship London boutique and now travel to the world's most prestigious boutiques.

Aren't they incredible!? The roller skates are so much fun!

All That Glitters is Not Gold

You guys know I'm obsessed with Miu Miu, and lately I've let my glitter obsession get the better of me... Well, luckily Miu Miu does glitter better than anyone. Proof? Here it is....

A pair of perfect glitter pumps.
 This blue is electric! Amazing in person.

I opted for the fushcia. Duh.

New Shoes, New Me?

Ok so you know it's hard to have a personal blog without getting personal.
I've said it before but I just want to reiterate... I am not myself right now. Going through a divorce, whether it's your choice or not, is fucking hard. Harder than I could have imagined. There are so many things I never considered, including that this is one of the biggest tests of true friendship I'd ever witness. It's hard to lose your partner and some of your friends at the same time. It's hard to hear people's negative opinions on what you feel is the right thing to do.
Anyway, you get the point... it's HARD.
So, I don't know why it has come to such a shock to me that I haven't wanted to do anything that I used to do -GET THIS- including shopping. My favorite thing ever.

WTF?

I have barely looked twice at shoes. I went through a period of about a month where I didn't wear a pair of heels once! I just couldn't. I joked that my feet were depressed but I'm not sure I was joking.
Then I bought the Miu Miu glitter shoes...

 TAH DAH!

...to cheer myself up. It worked for about 2.5 seconds and then it was back to the pits. And the flats. Then I really wasn't interested in lusting over things like shoes or blogging about shoes, until... New York. Good ol New York and the thrill of fashion week. I honestly don't care too much about going to a bunch of shows but there's just something in the air here. It's so... fashion-y!

Yesterday I bought what I think is one of the coolest shoes of the season. I'm obsessed with creepers! I wore them every day in high school and tried to design my own versions of them for both Betsey Johnson AND Harajuku Lovers but the buyers just didn't get them. They probably never will. They're not commercial enough. Pfffffft- whatever. I've noticed them popping on and off trend for years now. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU CREEPERS!

Anyway... so into Burberry I went with a clear mission. To get my statement shoe of the season. (Well, my non-glitter statement shoe. I'm making 2 statements really.)

I mean, are you kidding me? They're perfect! My shoe lust is back with a vengeance. I'm scared.

Do you love!? I know creepers aren't for everyone but what do YOU think??

Next shoe on my radar? Well I'm glad you ask. I am obsessing over this amazing heel from hell by Bally (kinda random) I'm hoping they'll come up with some more uppers because I'm not crazy about this one. Feels a little 2010 to me. I just love the heel and platform shape.

AND this super cool extremely curved heel by Walter Steiger... So cool!

I'm feeling ok today. I'm feeling more like The Shoe Girl than I have in a while.

YAY SHOES!!!!!!!!!

Louboutin Calypso RePost

I am re-posting this since Christina wore these shoes to mess up sing the National Anthem at the SuperBowl today...

~~~~~~~~ORIGINAL POST OCTOBER 2009~~~~~~~~~
I went to see my friends at the Louboutin boutique today to visit them and their new arrival... The "Calypso".
I don't even know what to say about these shoes... They're just amazing and that's not really doing them justice. You should really go in and see them in person. They're magical. (sorry for the photo quality- they were taken on an old blackberry)
They're black velvet with black and blue suede, covered in Swarovski crystals ...drool... and with a whopping 160mm heel height. WOO! Sky high!
Unfortunately for me, they're about $3400 so in other words- they're unattainable. I'm glad to have pictures of them anyway so I can at least say I had shoes this great on my feet if only for a few minutes.
This pair went to Mrs Vanessa Bryant... Go Lakers!
Other Worldly Shoes
As mentioned by Luxirare and StyleBubble... These Anastasia Radevich creations blew my mind. The following shoes are from her latest collection called Kenetik. They are true sculptural and technical masterpieces.
As a shoe designer, I really appreciate the love and creation that goes into shoe design. The blood and sweat behind the end result. When I see designs of this caliber I love to guess at what inspired the designer...
The heel is like black ink gliding through water. It's so beautiful and unlike anything I've seen.
Maybe she was inspired by liquidity. Dancing moving pigment.
Bjork's Vespertine album comes to mind as well. Something about the artwork reminds me of the fluidity of the heel.
These shoes have LED lighting in them... behind a screen of mesh, they remind me of electric Jellyfish. Or a far away galaxy.
There is something very alien like about jellyfish. Something about these shoes as well.
Whatever her inspiration was, she has inspired me. These are amazing and I'd love to get my hands on a pair.
By the way, Some other LED shoes...
 Rodarte
 Jimmy Choo
Chanel
Betsey Johnson sent light up stripper shoes like these down the runway
Ok, not shoes, but Katy Perry's light up dress at the Met Gala
Save My Sole!
A few months ago a company called Kushyfoot contacted me about sending me samples of their products. Being the shoe whore shoe lover that I am, I told them that I would gladly check them out... well I sure am glad I did!
The product that I thought would be the most useful for me were their Flats to Go. They're super easy to stuff in even the smallest handbags and are a total life saver when you need them. They're a no-brainer and I wish I would have thought of them first!
I had them with me in my bag at all times during Fashion Week in New York in case of a shoe-mergency.
They look Ok though I definitely wouldn't wear them as shoes on purpose. They're not ugly, just not "real" footwear and though they don't seem durable enough to last forever, at only $9 a pair... who cares! They get the job done. They lasted through Fashion Week and literally saved my feet numerous times. Think heels in the meatpacking district!! All those cobblestones? Forget it!
(image piedolatrie)
Princess Poochie and I both slipped ours on after the Betsey Johnson show on our way to the Stacy Lomman show. It was raining and we both felt like our feet were getting a bit soggy in them but they survived and they saved my precious Spine Heels from the wet streets.
I think they should add these to women's restrooms at bars. Like, they should have a machine that has tampons, lip gloss, and disposable flats. Genius if I do say so my self. And I do. ;)
The product that sort of caught me off guard though were these Super Low Cut Foot Covers. Um... AMAZING. I am not exaggerating ladies. I will be wearing these with everything this Fall. They are a new ShoeGirl staple.
I almost overlooked them in my package of goodies they sent but when I was packing for New York I grabbed them just in case.
I usually use regular ped socks when I wear boots or any kind of lace up shoe but I have these pink oxfords that are low cut and a regular ped would show. So, I tried these out and I will never look back. They have padding on the ball of the foot and even more importantly, in the back... you know, where you usually get blisters from shoes rubbing if you walk too long? Not any more. And they're thin like tights so they don't make your shoe feel smaller. They're low cut enough that you can wear them with pumps if you want too!! They're total pedicure savers too which is a great bonus. I hate when I get pedis in the Fall and then wear a closed toe shoe that chips off my polish!
I love love love these and think you should check them out. You can find theme here at Kushyfoot.com or on Amazon.
I've Got a Crush on You...
First off... THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!!
Your comments are seriously the most amazing awesome inspiring things EVER. You really are my friends and I'm so lucky to have you! You seriously freaking rule! Way to turn my frown upside down. I love you guys :) Sorry for the drama queen moment. I'm making myself be over it.
I decided a hair change would help to make me feel better and I was right. I feel sassier already. Christie Walker at Desa Salon does my hair and she's amazing. I went in and sat down and she could tell I was in a funk so she brightened me up (literally) and gave me my bangs back. Yay Christie!
On to shoes! And oh what glorious shoes!!! How can I feel sorry for myself with these babies on my feet, right?
Amazing amazing amazing amazing!
I fell for these shoes the moment I saw them on the runway. Miu Miu hit the nail on the head with these babies! They're perfect.
IMG_4797
They were impossible to find and I was getting super frustrated about not getting my hands on them. I became obsessed and hounded my sales guy/friend to do whatever he had to do to get them for me.
Well, he obviously came through! The funny thing is that these are the actual editorial samples! So if you've seen them pictured in magazines they were these actual shoes! These shoes have travelled all over the world! How many exclamations can I use in a row?! haha.
Here's another version from their campaign...
Look at them. They're flirting with me...
